I absolutely believe that obeying YHWH's commands brings forth blessing in one's life.

The very beginning of the Book of Psalms proclaims:

"Blessed is the man who shall not walk in the counsel of the wrong, and shall not stand in the path of sinners, and shall not sit in the seat of scoffers, but his delight is in the Torah of YHWH, and he meditates in His Torah day and night." (Psalm 1:1-2, TS2009)

I think Jacob heeded YHWH's commands, so he was therefore blessed, just as the man in Psalm 1.

Esau, on the other hand, is like the cursed man in Psalm 119:21.

"You rebuked the proud, cursed ones, who are straying from Your commands."

Those verses complement Jacob and Esau's story perfectly. 😊
